Bears!

One of our favorite books is The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland. We read it almost every day! This morning for breakfast I made Teddy Bear toast! Aubree LOVED it! I read the book as she was eating :)

Very easy to make! Take a piece of toast and spread some peanut butter on it. Slice up some banana and use 2 slices for his ears and 1 slice for his nose. Take 3 raisins and give him 2 eyes and put the last one on his nose!

We made a cave and Aubree pretended to be the very cranky bear! We talked about how bears hibernate and why animals build or seek out caves to hibernate.

We also used some bear counters to make patterns, sort by colors, and to do some addition and subtraction.

It was a beary good morning ;)

Rainbow Fun!

Aubree has been interested in rainbows lately so I decided we would have a rainbow day! We started off by reading "What Makes a Rainbow?" by Betty Schwartz. Then I made some rainbow noodles out of food coloring and spaghetti for sensory play. She also did a rainbow dot art. The Dot Art markers are a BIG hit in our house! I got them off Amazon for $15! :)

Aubree loved squishing the noodles and making a rainbow with them!

Rainbow noodle recipe here!

Dot Art rainbow! We also counted the dots to throw some math in with art :)

Trying something new!

Hello! As some may know, I'm a stay at home mommy to my daughter Aubree who is 3 years old. We do a lot of activities and many other moms have asked me "How do you do it?!" I figured I would start blogging my adventures with my little lady bug :)

Little background on me: I am married to my high school sweetheart and we've been together since 2006. I was a preschool teacher for 6 years and loved what I did! I'm a kid at heart so playing with play dough, coloring with crayons, and playing dress up is right up my alley! I had my daughter in 2010 and she is my ladybug. That was the first thing I called her when I got to hold her for the first time. Ladybugs are a symbol of luck and good omen. I was very lucky that she came into my life and that I was her mommy! :) We just recently bought a house and I turned the extra bedroom into a playroom/preschool room. We spend a lot of time in there!

I will be posting things like craft and art projects we do, stories we like, places we go, etc. I hope some of you find it helpful to stay sane as a stay at home mommy, or to find easy things to do when you are with your child. Enjoy!! :)
